Made by Rose UK is a new UK handmade business making soy wax melts and home fragrance. Its signature product is an 80 g snap bar of nine squares: four roses, four hearts and an engraved "Made by Rose UK" centre square. The launch range adds Melt ’n’ Mix shape bags, hanging car scent cards, an aroma bag and glass car diffusers. There are 88 scents, 24 of them in the launch range, and the public launch is planned for 1 January 2027.
A small handmade business has the same paperwork as a big one: product pages, prices, stock, allergen labelling, delivery options, legal pages and packaging. It just has far fewer hands. The brief was to make the business easy to run from day one, so that changing a product in one place updates everything else.
One product file
Every product, price, scent and shop setting lives in a single data file. A Python website builder reads that file and generates the whole static site: 76 top-level pages and 262 product pages. A separate checking script then audits the result before anything is uploaded. Pausing a product for launch is one switch in the data. The builder leaves it out of menus, listings, search, the sitemap and internal links, and gives it a non-indexed preview page instead.
Features built for how people choose a scent
- A "Find Your Scent" quiz, scored from tags on each scent (its family and what it should avoid).
- A scent library, and seasonal campaigns (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas and the seasons) that switch on and off by date from a single campaign file.
- A basket with a Royal Mail delivery chooser and free standard delivery over £35.
- Stock flags and best-seller picks written every morning from the business’s stock tracker.
- CLP allergen panels for each scent, read from a workbook rather than typed by hand.
- Legal pages built from the business’s own Word policies.
- A newsletter sign-up with double opt-in, used for the footer form, the coming-soon page and "email me when it’s back" alerts.
Checkout
Shopify Payments has been chosen for checkout at launch, and the product import file and shipping rates are already prepared. Until launch, the site stays private and orders are not taken.
Brand
The brand uses a soft blush, sage, rose and cream palette with a dark ink colour for text. It pairs a script face, a serif for headings and a clean sans-serif for body text. The logo is a round badge with a dripping-wax rose and sage leaves. The same palette and type carry through the website, the email signature, the Etsy shop banners and every printed label.
An app from the same code
The Made by Rose UK app is the website turned into a phone app, with a bottom tab bar, slide transitions, a notifications bell and email-code sign-in. It is wrapped for Android with Capacitor. Shop data is shaped like Shopify’s Storefront API, so connecting the live shop means changing one file. The app’s checkout is a clearly labelled demo that takes no payment. The app was submitted to Google Play closed testing on 29 October 2026.
Labels, packaging and moulds
Labels are generated by script, not drawn by hand:
- A GB CLP back label for each scent.
- Snap-bar front labels at 78 × 94 mm and back labels at 85.6 × 18 mm, with 3 mm bleed.
- Tags for candles, diffusers and the Discovery Box, plus a thank-you card and a seal sticker.
For packaging, a custom clamshell was first modelled parametrically in Python and 3D-printed as a vacuum-forming buck. The design then moved to a manufacturer-made hinged pour-in tray. Shape moulds start as 3D-printed masters with engraved IDs, so every silicone mould can be traced in a mould register.
Running the business day to day
The automation around the shop is deliberately read-only unless someone says yes. Every morning at 7:00, a scheduled check lists orders to post, stock to remake, materials to buy and quotes waiting. Other scripts check two oil suppliers’ stock, verify the mould register, update the website’s stock, generate social images and build Etsy listing packs. A full read-only audit of the site and documents runs before big changes, and it is there to catch problems before customers do.
The common thread is that the business’s own data (products, stock, scents and policies) drives everything, so nobody has to remember to update the same fact in five places.
