Cookie notice
Which cookies this website uses, why, and how to change your choice.
Last updated: 2 November 2026
The short version
Most cookies on this website are strictly necessary: they let you sign in to the client and staff workspace and protect accounts, and under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) they do not need consent. The only other cookies are Google Analytics cookies, which we use to understand how visitors use the public website. They are optional: they are only set if you choose “Accept analytics” in our cookie banner, and the site works exactly the same if you say no.
If you only browse the public pages and never sign in, our sign-in provider may still set its technical cookies so it can recognise whether you are signed in.
Cookies we use
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__session | Clerk (on this site) | Short-lived token proving you are signed in, sent with each request to the workspace. | About a minute; refreshed automatically while you are active |
__client_uat | Clerk (on this site) | Records when you last signed in or out so the site knows whether to check your session. | Persistent; updated whenever you sign in or out |
__client | Clerk (on Clerk’s sign-in domain) | Keeps you signed in on this device and lets the session be refreshed securely. | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| Variants of the above with a suffix, and short-lived sign-in handshake cookies | Clerk | The same purposes, kept separate per application instance and used briefly while signing in. | Minutes to the session lifetime |
_ga | Google Analytics (only if you accept) | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics (only if you accept) | Keeps track of the current visit (session). | 2 years |
__cf_bm and similar | Cloudflare, on behalf of Clerk | Bot and abuse protection on the sign-in service, including the security check that may appear on sign-up. | Around 30 minutes |
Clerk may also keep small technical settings in your browser’s local storage so that signing in or out in one tab is reflected in your other tabs. This website itself does not set any other cookies (apart from Google Analytics, and only if you accept). Your cookie choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, the public pages will still work, but you will not be able to sign in to the workspace.
To ask about cookies, email support@solaraolabs.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
